Below you’ll find answers to a range of questions we’re often asked by our visitors. Hopefully you’ll find answers to any questions you might have here, but if not just give us a call on 01439 788269, or email us on reception@goldensquarecaravanpark.com and we’ll be happy to help.

Payment Methods

How much deposit do we need to pay on making our booking?

This will depend on the time of season you have booked for. £25 for a general booking. £50 for a Bank Holiday booking and weekly, and this is per unit, not per group. It is non refundable or transferable in the event of cancellation, but will contribute towards the total cost of your holiday. We’re unable to accept credit cards over the phone, or in person.

How can we pay for our stay?

On arrival you can pay the remaining balance of your stay either in cash or by debit card.  We’re unable to accept credit cards.

How much is Wi-Fi and how does it work?

To activate WiFi search on your device and connect to Golden Square Caravan Park account. Pick the data package you require, create account and login.
Packages: £3 for 1 day. £5 for 1 week. £10 for 1 month. £50 for 1 year.
You can use your account on 2 devices.
Payment by card or Paypal via account set up online.
Beware some devices update themselves and will use your data up. Switch them off.

Restrictions and Rules

What is the maximum number of persons per pitch?

Maximum of 6 persons per unit, unless otherwise agreed prior to your stay with the park owners.

Is there a minimum number of nights stay?

Minimum stay of 2 nights at busy times.   At Bank Holidays the minimum number of nights stay will vary; please contact us.

Are we allowed to bring 2 cars?

Yes, but the second car must be parked outside of the barrier at late arrivals. Please also be aware there is an additional charge.

Are we allowed BBQ’s on our pitches?

Yes, we allow BBQ’s, but they must be lifted off the ground so they do not burn the grass. Burning charcoal only, NO wood and NO open fires.

Are there any age restrictions?

While there are no age restrictions the site is better suited for young families, and the older generation.

What are your rules on general behaviour?

We are a family friendly park and so we ask that your behaviour should not be noisy or disruptive, especially at night time. We do not tolerate offensive or illegal behaviour and we may ask you or your party to leave immediately if your conduct is considered inappropriate. No refunds or compensation will be given in these circumstances.

What are your rules regarding bikes, scooters and recreational vehicles?

Motorised or battery operated recreational vehicles cannot be used on the park. These include scooters, bikes and children’s ride-ons. Parents must ensure that bikes and scooters are ridden in a courteous and responsible manner and supervised by a responsible adult. Please ensure that bicycles are parked sensibly and do not cause an obstruction to other guests or vehicles.

Pitches

Is there car parking space next to the pitches?

Yes, with each pitch there is one car parking space, any additional cars will need to be left at late arrivals, the other side of the barrier. An additional fee does apply.

Are the pitches hard standing?

Not all of our plots are hard standing, and we are unable to ensure you get a hard standing if you request one, however we will do out best.

Tent Pitches.

Beneath the top surface the ground its is rocky, so rock pegs are advisable.

Do all the pitches have electric?

All Caravan Pitches do, tents can be either with or with out elecrtic. Tents please speicfy when booking. If electric is required, please make sure you have the correct equipment to plug into the electrics. A special tent elecrtic connection, not a house hold extension. This will have trip switches on.

General Site Questions

Are there any Holiday Homes for hire?

No, the holiday homes are to buy.

Are there any play areas on site?

Yes, there are 2 outdoor play areas , 1 indoor play area as well as a small pitch and putt course, along with a football field. Outdoor play areas close at 10pm or dusk whichever is first.

Are we allowed water pistols?

Our water supply is metered  so please use sensibly e.g. no water pistols, water bombs or paddling pools.

Is there disabled access?

Yes there is disabled access and a disabled bathroom.

What security do you have in place?

We have wardens living on the site. The barrier will only let you in and out of the site if we have your car registration, (works on number plate recognition), and there is CCTV in place.

What time can we arrive?

Arrival time is any time after 1pm

What time do we have to depart?

We ask that you depart your pitch by 12 noon. However in our quieter times, if you wish to leave later you can pay £2.00 and stay until 4pm as long as your pitch isn’t needed and you have arranged this with the staff in reception.

How to find Golden Square

FROM A1: Leave A1 (M) at junction 49 to join the A168 (signs for Teeside & A19). Take the SECOND sign for THIRSK (signs A170 & A19) to avoid the town centre. At the roundabout take the A19 south to YORK. After approximately 3 miles turn left signposted “Caravan Route” to Helmsley. At Coxwold turn LEFT for AMPLEFORTH. Immediately through Ampleforth take the LEFT-HAND FORK for Helmsley (not the right hand fork for Oswaldkirk). Golden Square is approximately 1 and a half miles on your left.

FROM NORTH VIA A19: A19 South to York. Turn left onto the “CARAVAN ROUTE” to Helmsley just passed THIRSK then as above.

WARNING: SAT NAV takes you onto the A170 to SCARBOROUGH from Thirsk. CARAVANS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THIS ROAD DUE TO A VERY STEEP HILL. FOLLOW “CARAVAN ROUTE”.

Dogs

Does the site accept dogs?

Yes we allow dogs as long as they are not a dangerous breed. They must be kept on a lead at all times and must not be left unattended at any point. It’s a maximum of 2 dogs per unit unless otherwise agreed with the park owners. Dogs must not foul public areas. Owners must clear up after their pets at all times. Dogs are not allowed in the play areas.

Access Statement

Introduction

We strive to ensure that all visitors can enjoy the accommodation, facilities and surroundings within the Park. Our aim is to help in anyway that we can and if you require assistance during your stay or whilst planning your visit we will be delighted to assist.

Pre Arrival

• The Park can be contacted by phone (01439 788269) or email (reception@goldensquarecaravanpark.com) with website (www.goldensquarecaravanpark.com) and brochure for information.
• This access statement is available in hard copy on request.
• We cater for touring caravans, motor caravans and tents. We have privately owned static caravans.

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities

• The Park is approached by a level entrance lane, directly off the Highway. The Park is terraced with single roads leading into each terraced section.
• There is ample parking for cars outside reception on tarmac. Once parked, there is rear access to vehicles.
• There are speed bumps on the entrance lane.
• The car park, Park roads and footpaths are mainly tarmac, some being gravel surface. Majority are level.
• Guests access the Park by a barrier which is by car registration recognition, this needs to be pre registered. To exit, is by the same way. This lifts the barrier. Assistance can be given by an intercom system on a post at either side of the barrier.
• All Park signage is clear.
• There is ample Park lighting and it is located in key areas eg. at the barrier.

Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area

• Access to Reception/shop (same room) is directly from the car park.
• There is an inward opening, side hung door with a clearly identified opening handle.
• There is a step into Reception of approx 150mm. A ramp is provided on request, if preferred. The outdoor area is well lit at night.
• Internally, there is space for a turning circle of approx 2000mm, and the reception counter is at approx. 930mm high.
• There is no hearing enhancement system.
• The floor is level throughout the reception/shop.

Public WC’s

• The Park has two toilet blocks; both blocks are situated directly off the Parks internal tarmac road.
• Both toilet blocks have a ‘disabled room’ incorporating shower, toilet, basin with necessary grab handles. Each room is accessed directly off a concrete path/ramp.
• Parking bays are provided outside the toilet blocks.
• Some pitches are adjacent/opposite the toilet blocks.

Laundry

• Located in the second, smaller toilet block and accessed from the concrete path. Small step into the laundry.
• Are two top loading washing machines, two front loading dryers, one spin drier, one sink and an iron and ironing board.

Shop

• See ‘Reception’

Outdoor Facilities

• There are two children play areas with sand and safety mats as the safety surface.
• Seats are provided at both playareas. It is a large grass incline to access the larger play area. The smaller playarea can be accessed directly off a tarmac Park road.

Caravans, Holiday Homes & Twin Units

• Static caravans are accessed from a gravel road. Car parking is next to each holiday home and the immediate surrounding area is either gravel or grass which is level.

Touring Facilities (Holiday Parks)

• We have both grass or hard standing (gravel) pitches with or without electric.
• Parking is adjacent to each caravan/tent on the same pitch being either grass or hard standing surface.
• Please specify on booking if you prefer a particular pitch eg. there are hard standing pitches opposite the disabled room if required.
• There are numerous washing up sinks, water points, chemical disposal points, dustbin areas, recycling areas and fire points on the Park.
• Pitches are allocated on booking and staff are happy to advise on the location and suitability for your requirements on enquiry.
• The Park has lighting.

Additional Information

• There is mobile phone coverage.

• There is a local bus service from the village (approx 1 mile up and down a hill) and local taxis service the Park.
• We are happy to assist guests should the need arise. For specific requirements, please phone to confirm before booking/arrival.
• The surrounding countryside is ‘rolling’.
